baby it's cold outside...

fall in central ohio is frustrating. one day it's 40 and cold and the next week it's 70. regardless, i don't own a proper winter coat and haven't for a few years. i don't know why not. i usually wear a down vest and sweater or my spring Lands End coat and scarf. 

i just didn't want to be cold walking to and from campus anymore so i've been on the hunt. i have a jcrew black dress coat for work, i just need something for daily use.

my criteria: it had to be waterproof bc when snow sticks to you, it's a pain, especially when you scrape your car and it piles up on your coat sleeves and it had to be warm but thin, no puff monster jacket.

i've been wanting the north face lauren trench for years but i can't pay $399 for a coat. even i have my limits.

but i finally found a winner. a Michael Kors long black coat that has down filling but isn't puffy. it's way cuter in person than that photo and i detached the hood.

best part, i only paid $50 at TJ Maxx compared to $90 on overstock.com and $200 full-price.

and i'm not returning it per usual. i'm actually really satisfied with my purchase.

now i just need it to snow.

remind me of this plea in april, when i'm in the depths of seasonal affective disorder and pleading for sunshine and flip flops!
